About me

Introduction

I am Anna Varga, certified psychologist, Internal Family System ( IFS) consultant and life coach. I obtained my diploma at ELTE, in clinical and health psychology specialization.

Currently, in addition to my private practice, I work as a psychological counselor in a Family and Child Welfare Center. Here, I mostly help adults in crisis situations, with questions about self-knowledge and general life-management blockages, and in navigating relationship conflicts.

Psychology has been my hobby since I was a teenager, but it was during my university years that it became clear to me how important it is to develop self-awareness. Thanks to the time dedicated to my own self-knowledge and the invested energy, I experienced firsthand the effectiveness of the therapy myself.

In my free time, I like to engage in activities that sufficiently recharge me - whether it's reading, meditating, exercising, spending time with my loved ones, or (in the right amount, with a strictly professional eye) playing video games.

My approach

The methods I use are scientifically proven, effective techniques for counseling. I like to leave the sessions for free-flowing conversations and to focus on the topic that the client is arriving with. I supplement this with interventions as needed and sometimes give "homework" outside of the sessions. I believe this approach helps me deal with the wide range of issues raised.

I use acceptance and commitment therapy, the purpose of which is to consciously accept our unpleasant feelings, thoughts, and experiences while encouraging us to live according to values that are important to us. I tend to mix it with cognitive behavioral therapy, for example, by going through the beliefs carefully to find the limiting thoughts - after all, "you feel the way you think".

If you want to look deeper to learn about its inner workings, I often use the internal family system (IFS) method. This is based on the fact that the individual's inner world is made up of different "parts", each of which has a specific role and emotions. These parts can be in conflict with each other, too active, protective, or wounded. The goal of IFS is for the client to reach the "Self" state, which is a calm, compassionate and curious state. From this state, you can harmonize and heal the different parts of me that can cause problems in everyday life. Overall, it helps deepen self-awareness, more effective stress management, emotional healing, and building better relationships.
